R. B. G.

Celebrating Global Diversity Awareness Month – October 2020

By Tracy M. Johnson

When we think of the word “Notorious,” most people especially Northerners like myself think of the Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls or Biggie, but in recent years there has been someone just as profound for their lyrical poetry but in the courtroom fighting for Human Rights, particularly the rights of WOMEN! You ask who can it be, well none other than the Honorable and Notorious RBG aka Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United State of America. Ruth was nominated by President Bill Clinton in 1993 and sat on the bench up until her passing in September 2020. Ruth was the second of four female justices to be confirmed since Sandra Day O’Connor. Ruth was known for her eclectic collars which emphasized her individualistic aura and sometimes unfavorable views that she stood firm in as though a rooted tree that could not be swayed no matter her small stature yet mighty in strength as she rebounded from countless illnesses over the years.

Let us stand firm in our individual and collective beliefs as we pay homage to no other than, The Notorious RBG, the voice for ALL women!
