One of my favorite local radio stations in Atlanta is 102.9, and over the past few weeks they have been reporting the different urban saturated cities within each state that Donald Trump won due to poor voter turnout in the brown and black hued communities. Reportedly, in Georgia, Trumps' win in 2016 could have been due to 530,000 Blacks who did not vote, which is an atrocity to those leaders who have fought, died and were beaten for us to have a voice or a "seat at the table" as they say in the 20th Century. Is it lack of understanding, ignorance or just an attitude of I don't care? Whichever the reasoning or excuse, they are all quite concerning especially because it's a civil right and privilege some elders may view that was bestowed upon them as we head to the election of a lifetime. This election could seriously impact our livelihood and our existence here in the United States as we are in the midst of the pandemic, continued systemic racism, police brutality and future predicted race wars. Our world is at a juncture in the road where truly EVERY vote will be needed in order to elect someone in office who has the best interest of all people, color, creed who is welcoming to various religious and cultural beliefs that may differ from their own.
Can we count on you to cast your ballot?
